Moving Strip Tinning Automotive into the Cloud
Strip Tinning, founded in 1957, manufactures car parts for the world’s most recognised car brands and employees approximately 130 people. After being with their previous MSP (managed service provider) for several years they reached out to Hubtel IT to enquire about switching IT service provider. Their objectives were to make their IT infrastructure more efficient, robust, and resilient.
We moved them away from their unstable FTTC broadband and installed a dedicated ethernet circuit. This gave them the bandwidth and reliability needed to upgrade their telephony and IT network.
The next phase of the project was to move them away from traditional telephone system and install a modern hosted telephone system; not only is this cheaper overall but also gave them the scalability and functionality they needed for their growing business.
The biggest part of the project was to move their entire IT infrastructure into the Cloud. This included the decommissioning of their physical servers and moving their data onto virtual servers, hosted at a U.K. based datacentre. It also included recreating their user accounts into Microsoft Entra and migrating their on-premises email system to Microsoft 365 accounts and licencing.
To achieve Cyber Essentials accreditation, there were several security enhancements that we recommended and deployed. This included Datto remote monitoring software, SaaS (software-as-a-service) email backup and N-able server backups. The Datto software monitors the health of end users’ devices, keeps them up to date with patches and updates and identifies security vulnerabilities that we can fix before they become an issue.
