How Hubtel IT Helps Businesses Stay Efficient and Secure

The backbone to any business is their IT and telecoms infrastructure. Both are collaborative in the modern workplace to enhance productivity and to improve user and client experience. Add to that dynamic the evolving presence of cyber-crime and it’s vital that organisations transition from legacy systems that could cause instability, inefficiency and increased cyber security challenges.

Here are a few examples of how Hubtel IT has helped businesses make positive moves towards efficient, secure IT and telecoms systems.

Moving clients into the Cloud

Using dated systems can be expensive, unstable and dysfunctional – not to mention a threat to your security. That’s why our client, Strip Tinning Automotive asked us to upgrade their IT and telecoms systems to be more efficient, robust and resilient.

We switched them from an unstable FTTC broadband system and installed a dedicated ethernet circuit, boosting their bandwidth and setting them on the path to whole-scale telephony and IT network improvements.

The next step of the project was to move their entire IT infrastructure to the Cloud, decommissioning their physical servers and making their data virtual, hosted at a UK datacentre.

We also set Strip Tinning on the path towards Cyber Essentials accreditation by making several security enhancements. Cyber Essentials is a sound starting point for organisations looking to improve their IT security and resilience and for some business sectors, it’s even mandatory – a trend we predict will eventually be rolled out across all UK businesses.

Here’s what Strip Tinning’s Chief Financial Officer, Adam Le Van had to say about our work:

“Considering our IT network was slightly archaic and we were moving to the Cloud, the onboarding process with Hubtel IT was incredibly smooth.

I am happy to say our relationship with Hubtel IT has gone from strength to strength. I would recommend them to any organisation looking to switch providers or requiring assistance to implement a system upgrade.”

Remote workers – no problem!

In 2020, many organisations were forced to make the switch from the traditional office environment to working from home. Despite this drastic change in operations, many companies began to realise the benefits of hybrid or fully remote working. This meant that they required permanent solutions for cost-effective, secure and reliable software and systems.

Our client Moseley Chapman & Skemp, a successful law firm, was using legacy hardware and technology at the time the pandemic struck, making the move to remote working a little more challenging.

We were able to manage this transition for them, purchasing and setting up laptops for remote use, applying diverts to mobile phones and adjusting desktop settings. After these initial alterations, we moved their services into the Cloud and implemented cyber security measures to ensure they remained resilient and robust against the additional cyber-crime threats of remote working.

Safe and secure

Hubtel IT is proud to have worked with Stratford Energy Solutions, who provide Solar PV and EV charging solutions, for over a decade.

When their Director had questions from their new insurance providers about their cyber security, they knew it was best to call their Account Manager, Marie.

Marie reviewed the questions and quickly spotted that they closely mirrored the requirements of the increasingly popular Cyber Essentials scheme. Cyber Essentials is an IASME standard backed by the Government and operated the National Cyber Security Centre and is a growing prerequisite for many organisations looking to improve the security of their IT infrastructure.

After some security remedial works, not only did Stratford Energy satisfy the requirements of their insurer, they were also ticking the boxes for Cyber Essentials and quickly became accredited.

Here, Director Jason Savidge shares his thoughts:

“I’m really proud to have been awarded the Cyber Essentials accreditation. The process was relatively easy to implement, with minimal impact on our day-to-day operations.

I am grateful to Marie for keeping us surefooted and I look forward to the future with Hubtel IT.”
